Cake
Mike Mathieson is CEO and founder of Cake, the Creative Communications agency that coined the phrase ‘Brand Entertainment’. Previously he spent 15 years as a record plugger/ PR in the music industry and around music festivals before switching from bands to brands in 1999. Cake operates in the disciplines of PR, Social media, social experiences, social responsibility and content creation, employs 90 people and is based in London, New York and Paris and became part of the Havas Group in 2008.
Mike has always had a healthy appetite for all things experiential and digital and Cake was one of the first Comms agencies to openly embrace on-line dialogue and Social Media for its clients, believing that positive consumer advocacy is the best way for brands to connect to people. Cake is agency or record for many brands in Social Media, Experiential and PR including: Sony, British Airways, HBO, Yahoo, Carphone Warehouse, Carling, Orange, Lego and Sky.
With a global network behind them and offices around the world, Cake has embarked on larger worldwide client campaigns for brands such Coca-Cola, Yahoo, Nintendo and IKEA. Cake are currently working with Coke on their music strategy and implementation around the London 2012 Olympics.
Mike is married, lives in West London and has three small children. In his spare time Mike likes to listen to the Foo Fighters, drink fine wine, tweet (@mikemath) collect street art and basket weave.
One of these is a lie.
